Chair VLA26P Vilhelm Lauritzen | Carl Hansen

The Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen created modernist masterpieces in which everything was considered down to the smallest detail,
such as music center Vega in Copenhagen, for which he designed the VLA26 Vega Chair.

Previously only found in Vega's historic concert halls, the Vega chair is now being put into production by Carl Hansen & Søn
in collaboration with Vilhelm Lauritzen Architects, who will be celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2022.
This stackable chair appears in an elegant mix of steel, wood and expertly upholstered in textile or leather on the seat and back
giving the design a sleek and sophisticated look.
For a more minimalist look, the chair is also manufactured without upholstery, which enhances the beauty and tactile feel
FSCTM-certified oak comes into its own.
The simple design is stylishly finished with wooden ends on the legs.
The Vega chair is stackable up to 8 pieces.

Materials |
The backrest and seat of the Carl Hansen VLA26P are available in oak veneer with an oil finish (natural, white or smoked), lacquered and
painted in black. The ends of the chair legs are made of solid oak.
The VLA26P dining chair is upholstered with textiles from, among others, Kvadrat and Gabriel, where you can choose from four price/quality ratios.
In addition, the Carl Hansen Vega chair can be upholstered with protected leather, semi-aniline or full aniline leather.
The steel frame comes chromed or has a black powder coating.

Vilhelm Lauritzen

Vilhelm Theodor Lauritzen was one of Denmark’s most influential architects and a father of Danish Modernism. Today, many of his projects remain
as lasting examples of a new and revolutionary approach to architecture in which form followed function.
Throughout his career, he maintained that architecture should be an applied art that serves all, not just the privileged few. Among Lauritzen’s
most famous and acclaimed works are Copenhagen Airport’s first terminal (1939), which is now known as the Vilhelm Lauritzen Terminal, Radiohuset
broadcasting building in Frederiksberg (1945), Vega music venue in Copenhagen (1956), and the Danish Embassy in Washington D.C. (1960).

Lauritzen’s talents extended to interior design. Over the course of his career, he created everything from door handles, ashtrays, and railings to lamps,
sofas, and chairs.
The Carl Hansen Vega chair is therefore a beautiful and functional example of his work. Combine the VLA26 with, for example, the Carl Hansen
EOOS E020 round dining table or the rectangular SH900 Extend table and hang Lauritzen's glass Radiohuset lamps by Louis Poulsen above it.
