Designed in 1953, the Reading Chair is one of Finn Juhl's simpler, yet elegant pieces. The chair is featured
through refined details and a unique design. In this organically shaped dining chair, the backrest with the special armrest catches the eye.
This invites you to change position and makes it pleasant to turn towards each other when you are having a conversation at the table.
The chair also has a very generous seat that provides a lot of support and makes long dining enjoyable.
Finn Juhl is known for extensively testing his designs for comfort and functionality. The armrest is therefore again a typical
Finn Juhl detail in which his thinking and experience is expressed.

No concessions are possible with regard to the use of materials for the furniture by Finn Juhl. You can count on the best quality in fabrics, leather and wood.
The House of Finn Juhl Reading Chair is available with a solid oak frame. The back and seat are made of plywood with a walnut wood
top layer. The horizontal armrest is made of a combination of solid oak and walnut.
The Reading Chair is treated with dark oil or painted black.

The seat can be optionally upholstered with textile or leather. Various possibilities are available.
In the shop we can inform you about the full upholstery options in four fabric qualities and four leather qualities.

You can order the Reading Chair online with or without upholstery. With upholstery you can choose from one of the 32 watercolor colors in which Finn Juhl
originally designed his furniture. Check out the fabric and colors on the Kjellerup Vaeveri website. When ordering, enter the name and number of the fabric.
Or choose Vegetal leather from Stolz. Vegetal is vegetable tanned and is therefore sustainably produced. It is a very natural aniline leather that is beautifully soft,
warm and pleasant to touch and it has a 100% smooth grain.
The leather comes from Scandinavian bulls and has a natural look. Closed scars from thorns and insect bites and skin folds remain visible and
enhance the authentic character of the leather. Check out the Stolz website. Enter the color number of the leather when ordering.

Combining the House of Finn Juhl Reading Chair

The Reading Chair looks great at the tables from House of Finn Juhl. Combine the chair with the oval Silver table or the rectangular
Kaufmann table. Furthermore, this chair goes well with the Getama RM13 and the Carl Hansen & Søn BM1160 Hunting dining room table.

Finn Juhl Organic Danish Design

The Danish modernist Finn Juhl may have been the designer with which organic forms are most visible in his furniture design.
Like other modernist pioneers, Juhl started from scratch with no role models or hereditary limitations.
He designed by measuring and analyzing his own body and how the individual parts of the chair should support the human body.
And unlike his contemporaries, with their streamlined, scaffold-like structures, Juhl strove for a more organic,
natural shape.
The potential strength of the wood was used to the maximum, just like it occurs during the natural growth process of a tree.
As Finn Juhl translated his ideas into bold, smooth joinery where every element of the design flows seamlessly into another,
he also set very high standards for the furniture makers who had to make the design.
The result is visible in beautifully refined, sculptural and iconic work that has been supplied exclusively by House of Finn Juhl
since its restart in 2001.
