The multi-talented artist Piet Hein is considered one of Denmark's greatest natural treasures: a creative genius which is known to most people,
either for its ingenious 'grook' verse or for sitting at one of its superellipse tables while eating.
As was the case with the superellipse table, it took almost a decade to develop the PIET HEIN chair from idea to completion in 1968.
Piet Hein, who was known for his work on a wide range of projects simultaneously developed the PIET HEIN chair based on the superellipse,
a shape he originally developed for a combined town square and roundabout at Sergels Torg in Stockholm.
Using mathematics, Piet Hein arrived at a harmonious geometric shape which he then used in multiple contexts.
This unique superellipse shape is also the basis for the PIET HEIN chair, designed for the table of the same name. However, this
dining room chair was has never been put into production before.
Sibast Furniture has taken the chair into production in close collaboration with the Piet Hein family and therefore presents the superelliptical chair.
