The VL38 table lamp was designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen and Louis Poulsen for the Radiohuset building in Copenhagen at the end of the 1930s.
The VL38 and the VL45 hanging lamp inspired by it were both designed by Vilhem Lauritzen for Radiohuset and made their debut
in Louis Poulsen's catalogs in the mid-1940s.
The VL38 was reintroduced in the autumn of 2016 in a white and copper-coloured variant. Completely in line with modern innovations in the field
of lighting technology and to reduce energy consumption, the lamp is equipped with LED lighting.
The black version of the VL38 was introduced in the autumn of 2017. This version has a more powerful appearance than its white brother,
but does not compromise on the popular retro look with the soft, flowing lines and appearance of the original design.
There is an auto-off timer function that can be set to 4 hours or 8 hours and it is possible to adjust the lamp
so that it turns on with a specific light level.

The lamp is made of powder-coated aluminum in black or white with a brass stand and switch.
The VL38 is equipped with a 2700K LED light source. This is a warm light temperature.
The VL38 has a white or black cord to match the color of the lamp.

VL 38 lamp by Vilhelm Lauritzen

Vilhelm Lauritzen was the architect behind Radiohuset, the building of the Danish broadcaster that is seen as a 'gesamtkunstwerk', like most of
Lauritzen's buildings. This means that he designed the entire interior and every detail of the building. During the development of Radiohuset designed
Lauritzen, in collaboration with Louis Poulsen and the architect Mogens Voltelen, created an extensive collection of lamps.
For this project, Lauritzen created the Studio lamp, the VL 38 Table Lamp (VL38), the Radiohus Hanging Lamp (VL45) and the VL Ring Crown lamps.
Radiohuset is now a concert hall.
