The story of Hans J. Wegner’s CH468 Oculus Chair is unique. In examining the vast archives of the Hans J. Wegner Design Studio, Carl Hansen & Søn came across a clay model of a previously unknown lounge chair, along with photos of an early prototype. A later discovery of Wegner’s drawings of the chair enabled production to begin in 2010 in accordance with the designer’s original vision.

Creative craftsmanship with an eye for great comfort

“Oculus”, Latin for eye, refers to the eye-like shape in the upholstery of the chair’s back. The combination of an unusual design with a supremely comfortable, supportive structure made the Oculus Chair an instant favorite.
The chair’s curved, oversized backrest and large, sloping armrests create an inviting nook for relaxation and provide a dramatic contrast to the lightweight stainless steel legs. The bold silhouette can serve as the centerpiece of any room on its own, and functions well in groups.

The Oculus Chair is available in four fabric qualities by Kvadrat and Gabriel. The CH468 upholstered in leather comes in Loke leather, a painted leather which is easy in maintenance. Optionally this easy chair comes in Thor, semi aniline leather with a thin coacting, or Sif leather, full aniline leather which is the best leather available. Full aniline leather is an open leather which add’s to comfort.

The CH468 Oculus Chair is available with the matching CH446 footstool for added comfort.
